Hi, my name is Yo and I am an illustrator and plein air painter. Here I show a selection of my oil paintings that I have painted outdoors in recent years. As a balance to my digital illustrations, I started plein air painting in 2012. “En plein air” is French and means “outdoors” – and that’s exactly where the largest and most beautiful studio in the world is located! I really enjoy being outside without briefings and free from time pressure, not having to think of anything, but simply painting what I see and absorbing all the sensory impressions that surround me on site. I not only see my subject, I also smell and hear it ∞ I am right in the middle of my subject.

I have numbered all the paintings since the first one. I paint about 100 paintings a year – so you can tell from the painting number when I painted it. On my blog you can see all (!) my paintings uncensored in chronological order.

To explain this even better, from time to time I also shoot videos of my painting process (especially Instagram-Reels).
